Ageing population dragging Aust. into the red

Postby poltergeist » Fri Feb 05, 2010 3:22 am

One simple solution would be to introduce voluntary euthanasia for those in their 'twilight years' who wish to exit their physical existence.
(personally, I believe voluntary euthanasia should be an option for ANY sane adult who wishes to avail of such option; however I can see this being introduced at some point in time - given that the availability of ever-increasing options is the natural progression in society; a "good" pre-planned death would have to be the ultimate human civil right!)

When the desirability (if not imperative!) of "a good death" for everyone becomes widely understood, we will see the emergence of "good death specialists". ie. catering to the 'welfare' and best interests of the soul in the afterlife.. (which shall alongside benefit the bereaved).

Not interrested in the after life Lora. If in the end I feed a few ants and they get my genes then the world can watch out. Actually, I'm planning coming back as a cat so I can order people around rather than as a dog licking everyone's boots.

My comment was tongue in cheek and I am not a Buddhist. I believe that Reincarnation is purely wishfull thinking.
Lora, I am 77 and according to my ancestore I should have another 25 years up my sleeve. Most of them topped the 100 with one going to 106. I tell my daughter to consider herself as forever young and act accordingly. Look after yourself so you can look after others.

Nev - I guess you also don't believe that "electronic voice phenomena" is actually the recorded voices of spirits?

Well - we could try another experiment in endeavour to further convince you..

Tonight sit at your computer wearing a distinctive coloured shirt & I will ask the spirits to tell me the colour of your shirt...
Hopefully the spirits won't embarrass me!

ANSWER: Pure white ... (given even before asking the question)

It's not the age of Australia's population that worries me.

It's their lack of intelligence.......like their inability to understand overseas news from Indonesia.!

Found in 'Toucha's archives':

In Pharmacology, all drugs have two names, a trade name and generic name. For example, the trade name of Tylenol also has a generic name of Acetaminophen. Aleve is also called Naproxen. Amoxil is also call Amoxicillin and Advil is also called Ibuprofen.

The FDA has been looking for a generic name for Viagra. After careful consideration by a team of government experts, it recently announced that it has settled on the generic name of Mycoxafloppin. Also considered were Mycoxafailin, Mydixadrupin, Mydixarizin, Dixafix, and of course, Ibepokin.

Pfizer Corp. announced today that Viagra will soon be available in liquid form, and will be marketed by Pepsi Cola as a power beverage suitable for use as a mixer. It will now be possible for a man to literally pour himself a stiff one. Obviously we can no longer call this a soft drink, and it gives new meaning to the names of "cocktails", "highballs" and just a good old-fashioned "stiff drink". Pepsi will market the new concoction by the name of: MOUNT & DO.

Thought for the day: There is more money being spent on breast implants and Viagra today than on Alzheimer's research. This means that by 2040, there should be a large elderly population with perky boobs and huge erections and absolutely no recollection of what to do with them.

If you don't send this to five old friends right away there will be five fewer people laughing in the world.
